Previous Class Wikified Research Papers
There are 4 places to view previous examples of wikified research papers. You can see them listed on the right hand side of the page on the link. Or anyone can follow this link or this link or this link to a class wikispace page to find more examples. Students' projects and bibliographies are listed on the left hand side of the class wikipage. Feel free to view the wikis and post comments.
Fall 2010 Extra Credit
Extra credit assignments consist of topics that I may have wanted to get to, but were oftentimes tangential to our class discussion. That or they would have taken too long to get into that they prohibited effective use of class time. Keep in mind that these are "extra" assignments. It is oftentimes easier to just simply do the assignment well the first time around. That said, you may do up to 10 extra credit assignments. For each video or article you will pose 3 thought-provoking questions and then answer 1 in an essay of at least 250 words. The essay may be written or typed. All extra credit essays are due on Thursday May 6th.

Houston and CFL Light Bulbs
I wonder whether all the positive greening of the environment will continue when these light bulbs die and have to be recycled and/or disposed of. Will the homeowners know what to do?

Environmental Commercial - Assignment
Students will choose an environmental topic of their choice. Topics can be straightforward like endangered animals or they can be seemingly off-topic like vaccinations or cell phone use - or anything else in between. Students will submit a proposal with their topic (see previous proposals for examples) which should include a central question. The central question will govern the scope and breadth of the research. Students will then form and argument based on their central question and use visual media to argue their point. The final project will be an animoto/iMovie mashup. Each mashup should contain elements of ETHOS, PATHOS and LOGOS.

Global Warming and Polar Bears
This is a fascinating article by the National Wildlife Federation on how global warming threatens polar bears.
Global Warming
This is an interesting news report on the media angle of global warming. I think it is ironic that people would need to time certain "evidences" to coincide with other media occurrences. Even Al Gore got involved.
